Warranty
Three warranties, kept apart
"Lifetime" means whose lifetime and for what, so ask which life and which part. Terms, limits and exclusions are in each written warranty, and we go through them with you before you sign.
The material warranty
From the manufacturer, for the shingles, metal or tile itself. It covers manufacturing defects, not installation and not storm damage.
Given by: the manufacturer
Covers: the product
Registered by: you or us, on the tier you choose
The system warranty
An enhanced manufacturer warranty that can include the underlayment, vents and other parts together. Only certain installers can offer it, and it has its own requirements.
Given by: the manufacturer
Covers: the parts as a system
Needs: an eligible installer and a registered job
The workmanship warranty
Ours, in your contract, for how the roof was put on. The length and what it covers are written there.
Given by: Gilliam Roofing
Covers: our installation
Written in: your contract

Warranty questions
What warranty do I get?
Two parts at least: the manufacturer's material warranty and our workmanship warranty. Your estimate lists which tier you're quoted, and the terms are in writing.
What does "lifetime" mean?
It depends on the manufacturer. It often means as long as you own the home, for defects in the product, with the payout reduced after an initial period. Ask for the warranty document.
Who registers the warranty?
We register it when the job passes inspection, and you get the confirmation in your roof folder.
